Ontario to South Carolina Travel Routes

Heading to Huntington Beach Park (Murrells Inlet) in mid April for 2 weeks. Going down I-79,stopping in Pittsburg for a few days,on to Charolette and into Murrells Inlet. Would like to return to Ontario via a different route----Any suggestions?? 1-95 / 1-99 or ?? 81 to Strasburg and then North. Have never travelled this area so looking for advice. Thanks

For something different you might want to come up I-77 to I-81 and then take 81 north to Harrisburg. North of Harrisburg take US 322/US22 west to US 15 and US 11 North. Stay on 15 up to I-86/NY17 in Corning and then take 86 west and I-390 north to the Thruway south of Rochester and then west back to the Peace Bridge. Another alternative is to take I-95 North to I-66(I think it's 66) and then back over to 81 and then back up 15. Different drive and not a bad drive other than one slow stretch through PA where you have a couple of towns to go through.

That is a good route. There are some hills, but very scenic.

I presume you mean I-95 to I-64 instead of I-66. I-95 to I-66 would involve getting on the Capital Beltway around Washington DC......I avoid that area at all cost.

I-64 across Afton Mtn. is also very scenic, and not too terrible of a climb.

Sorry, I did mean I-64. The last thing I would want to do to any fellow RVer is to send them into the quagmire of Washington. You can take that any way you want!

Both of the above are great routes with little traffic (except I-95). If you want to get off the beaten path, take I-95 to exit 133? in Frederickburg, Va and take Route 17 north. That will take you to I-66 well west of DC and then on to I-81 near Winchester, Va. Route 17 is very scenic with lots of Ranches and large Homesteads. Maybe a little slow when you first get off (depending on time of day) for about a mile but, then it opens up to a four lane State Highway.

When you get up into Maryland I-81 exit 9, give us a shout ........ we'll put the coffee on!!!

Send a message via Skype™ to DAISY BOYKIN
For a good return trip to ontario

I would like to make a suggestion of a return trip to Ontario of I-95N to
Fredericksburg, VA, take Highway 17N to 15/29N to I-66 W to I-81 N to I-68 to I-79N to I-70W to I-75 N. I have traveled this route, very scenic. I-66W will keep you out of the DC traffic and the mountains, near Front Royal. I-66 crosses the Appalachians MTNS at a gap in the mountain range unlike the 1-77 S just before Charlotte, NC.

Take RRACER5 up on his offer for he is on the same route I just suggested. Don't just settle for coffee. Make him put on the BB-Q and beer.

Good luck on your trip.
