Orlando

I have tried for 2 years to get a campsite at Fort Disney over the Xmas holiday. Even tried for a single night over that 2 week period and nada. So my question is: Does anyone have campground recommendation in the Disney area that has nice sites and decent amenities? I have 2 kids 15 and 12 and they like pickleball, tennis, basketball and of course swimming.

All feedback welcome or tricks to getting into fort Disney campground...

Thanks, mike

Wekiva Springs SP in Apopka. Great swimming, canoeing/kyaking. Some sites are full hook ups. Go to Reserve America site.

Look on RV Parky | RV Parks & Campgrounds Directory, Reviews, Photos and put in Disney world there are about 15 campgrounds with in 10 miles.

To get into Disney at high use periods- use a travel agent. Seriously. It doesn't cost you anything (their commission is paid by Disney and there's no discount for not using a travel agent). I've used Jason in the past:

Otherwise, Thousand Trails Orlando fits the bill. They have each thing that you've listed. It can be busy at Christmas time, but doesn't really get crazy until after the new year.

We stayed at Fort Wilderness a couple of years ago over Christmas/New Years week. We didn't have reservations till probably the week before.I spoke to someone at their reservations office and the person told me to keep checking because they start getting a lot of last minute cancellations. Sure enough, they were correct, and we wound up being able to stay for the week. I would definitely try to make reservations early, but in our situation, we had just bought the motorhome in November and wanted to take it out. The bus system is great. We didn't have to tow our car from Pa.

Keep checking for cancellations too. We did that for a weekend in April. No openings, but kept checking for cancellations and were able to get a spot for the days we wanted. Good luck!

Better get your beach reservations made quickly, that is prime real estate in the Winter. You can always cancel if plans change.

Careful with that now Disney has cracked down on it and gives you grief and fits about doing it. That started back in the middle of summer.
