Outer Banks NC

Had a really good nine days at Camp Hatteras in Rodanthe/Waves NC. Will camp there again. If you've never camped the outer banks, be aware that mosquitos can be a major problem on the sound side of Hwy 12. In 30+ years, I've never really had a problem on the ocean side although its only a few hundred yards apart. We pull a 2004 25' toy hauler with our Harley Ultra Classic tied down inside. Our TV is a 2002 Avalanche 2500 w/8.1L engine. Round trip from Ohio avg of 7.4mpg with a stop to fill up every two hours

Nice, we are heading to Ocean Waves Campground on Sunday for the week. It's just past the KOA on the ocean side.

I was staying on the ocean side during that same week, & believe me the mosquitos were out in full force. Usually mosquitos won't bother you when it is real windy, but these mosquitos have adapted & overcome that obstacle. I love the campground & the area & have been visiting it since 1997.
