overnight rv stops

I am traveling from GA to Maine over July 4th weekend and I need to find place to stop overnight along the route. Ideal would be mid to northern VA along I-81 and Eastern NY/Western MA along either I-84 or I-90. Any suggestions?

Staunton Va on I-81. There's a Pilot\Flying J at the exit and the Walnut Hills KOA has a decent 50a pull thru gravel lot for transients. We use it for an over-nighter between CT and Blacksburg VA. Once in CT on I-84 in Danbury, there's a weigh station (Exit 2 I believe) that has a dump station and large parking lot. I'm not 100% sure that overnighting is allowed. You'd have to check that out.

Once you get to NY on 90, NYS Thruway, you can overnight somewhat comfortably at any Thruway rest stop. That is what my wife and I do every time we are traveling on it. We figure it sort a mitigates the toll charges. If your rig isn't to large you can park in the "car" parking lot at the end to get away from the trucks pulling in and out at all hours, though by law they have to shut them down. There is even free Wi-Fi at the stops.

Install the app RVParky in your phone and it will give you all the info you need, free overnight parking spots, fuel stops, campgrounds and much more. It follows you so the info given is for the area you are in, great app.

X3 on RVParky. Should've mentioned it in my post.

We lucked out in Western Ma and got a site at the Springfield KOA. Virginia stop may have to be the Flying J in Winchester but may still get lucky with a KOA in Harrisonburg if we can get there early enough.

Pilot/FlyingJ web site has a file you can download that lists all of their location and what they offer, including overnight parking for RVs
