Panhandle of Florida

We are thinking of going to Florida for a month and have never traveled the area before, so we need guidance for RV Parks.

Topsail Hill Preserve state park.

It is a wonderful park.
As mentioned B4 this park used to be a private resort.
The state bought it to save it from development after
the owners wanted out of the business.
A state park would never be built with this much landscaping
and paving and laundry and CLEAN shiny restrooms but
this is one they own.

It's a 10 out of 10.
Shade and some privacy on almost every site.
Great hiking in the pine scrub and on the dunes and
of course along the beautiful white beach.
Also a few miles of paved bike/walking paths as well
as easy access to the 30A bike path into the beach communities
and shopping just a few miles east.

Don't miss a visit/stroll/picnic at Eden Gardens state park
while in the area. There is a visitor center with tons of
info on what to see and do at the intersection of
US 331 and US 98

Do bring your bikes!

Are you just looking at beach spots? I've only ever been to Florida Caverns State Park (and loved it), but friends swear Henderson Beach State Park is their favorite place.

There are several RV parks along 98. You should be able to find some to your liking. Here is a link that might help.

X7 of all above, Don't forget about Gulf Shores, AL and Fort Pickens in Pensacola, FL. Also check out the National Naval Aviation Museum.

I hope you wait for better weather? It gets cold and it is cold there now. It should be nice there by spring break, mid March around here. Good Luck

IF you prefer "boondocking", check out Camel Lake or Wrights Lake in Appalichicola Nat'l forest. Isolated but very pretty areas with lots of trails to hike and lakes to fish. Camel Lake may have a site or two with electric. I was able to get electric at a former host's site at Wrights lake last year. If you have golden age pass, it's half off!
