If you have kids the price is not to unreasonable. The water park is included in the price for up to,4. You could not go to a hotel then to a similar water park for any less. If you are just interested in going there and not interested in the water park, then yes it is way expensive, we were always sucked in to going there with our grand kids.

We have stayed at Country Acres Campground located just outside Lancaster at 20 Leven Road Gordonville. We really liked it. There was a little Amish girl that would pull a little wagon through the campground every evening selling pies, bread, cookies, etc. They give you a free bus tour of Amish Country if you camp there. We just got a tour map from the office and drove ourselves around because we wanted to take our time. But if you didn't have another vehicle to drive around it would be fine. Staff was very nice and we would stay there again for sure. Rates for full hookup range from $51.00-$64.00. They also have cabins to rent.

Thanks Papa-t for the confirmation review of Country Acres.
I believe I have it narrowed down to Country Acres and Lancaster/New Holland KOA with backups of Old Mill Stream and Mill Bridge and possibly Florys'.
I'm passing along my opinion and the information I've received here along to our group and I hope to make reservations soon. Then on to other trips.

Rich,
You are probably right about that. My wife and I don't have any kids (yet) so maybe that is half of the reason why it isn't so appealing to us to pay that a night.

Also in Narvon is Oak Creek.
Hershey KOA in Elizabeth Town is really nice.
Pinch Pond in Manheim is nice but more rustic when compared to the other two mentioned.

Also very close to the PA Renaissance Fair. I stayed here for a few days. It was a nice place but you do want to make sure that you get a site that is not right on the border next to the Turnpike.

+1 for Twin Grove. Close to I-81, so you can be in Hazleton/Wilkes Barre area, or Harrisburg/Gettysburg area, or even Lancaster/Lebanon, all in an hour or less. It's a good jump-off point, nice CG, great pool, fenced in dog park, cabins for rent if needed (for your non-RV friends and family.) I do a family week there every August, and I'm the only one with a camper...

Pennsylvania Campground recommendation
We found Twin Grove last year and really liked it. We've stayed at most campgrounds near Hershey and, for the money, this is the best. We had stayed at the Hershey Park Campground for a few years, but since Hershey Corp took over, they've priced us out. We're all set up for a week at Twin Grove later this month.
