Pine Log State Forest neart Panama City Beach
This is a real jewel of a park and, for being so close to the beaches (12 miles) it seems almost undiscovered. Roughly 20 sites with water /electric and most front a small 50 acre lake. Really nice long leaf pine wooded area. Best of all, if you're a senior, rates are 1/2 price at $10/night.
I've been in Florida since a few days before Christmas. I stayed in various State Parks for about 5 weeks but they can get pricey when you're down here for 3 months. The rest of the time has been spent in National forests, Corps of Engineers Parks and state forests.
My next stop is Blackwater River State forest. From their I intend to work my way up through western Alabama, staying at Corps parks and a National park before I dash home to Ohio in later March.
I'm really not a beach guy and prefer the woods over all that concrete and asphalt, tee shirt shops etc. The interior of Florida is SO different then the coasts!
