Point Lookout State Park

We spent a long weekend here over Labor Day and lived it. You couldn't ask for better camp sites. Level, clean, private. Even the fire rings were cleaned out and up on concrete bases. We stayed on Tulip Loop. Full hookups. Bath house was a little walk away on next loop. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Prices reasonable. Gear location. Regular beach was pretty crowded but pet beach was awesome. Our dog loved it and we had about 25 yds of beach all to ourselves. Lots of fishing and hiking to do. Nice big fishing pier and lots of room along the waters edge. Nice little museum. Lighthouse is only open 1st Saturday of the month so that was a little disappointing. Bugs were rough but once we put on the repellant they weren't too bad. Not a lot to do outside the park that we saw but we didn't look too hard. Would have liked to had time to visit museum at Patuxent NAS but maybe next time. Overall 8 out of 10. We'll be back.

We also enjoyed staying there. We went a couple months ago. It's fairly close to us and we'll also return. Tulip loop is the best.

We camphost there each June and our entire family enjoys it.

We do Lanier Loop, the one with the Nature Center and you are right, the bugs are NASTY! We stayed on Tulip Loop last year because we had our dogs with us. This coming year....who knows, but we will probably be there.

It has become one of our favorite places and my daughters LOVE the Nature Center and Stephanie, the naturalist. They participated in the Junior Ranger camp with 13 other kids and plan to do the advanced camp next summer.

Hope to see y'all there next year.

It's a great spot. Right where the Potomac flows into the bay.

Thank you. We have been talking about heading over to that area, but just have not found the time to do so. I will put that in our list of parts to stay at.

We live in Southern Maryland, and love to go there for a short weekend trip.
It's beautiful, and we love to get sites right on the water.
