Lakewood was out due to the no alcohol rule. I'm sure it's to keep people from bring annoying, but I like you kick back with a drink and not have to worry about breaking the rules.

About 25 minutes from the neon, traffic, tourists, try Brunswick Beaches a GS CG or Wishing Well. Both in Sunset Beach NC. PM for more info if interested. I understand tourists wanting on the beach and inside the crowds, traffic, tourist traps, neon but I live in the area- 30 minutes away. Would not live there and rarely visit Myrtle.

More so MB Travel Park.

Quick - Last minute Myrtle Beach Reco

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Myrtle Beach Travel Park. They have some really nice full hookup ocean sites and nice bath houses. Oceanlakes is nice, but a bike or golf cart is a must. It is a large park and it is always crowded. We have stayed at Pirateland too. I found the beach sites were mainly grass.

Ocean Lakes has been good. No problems at all. Like I said, we don't have kids with us, so inside the park entertainment wasn't too important to us. Beach access was good and well maintained. Power and sewer was flawless. Only complaint might be too many golf carts. It's almost like you kicked the top off of a fire ant hill, and golf carts are going in every which direction. [emoji16]

Thanks. It looks like we won't be making the rally. I'm just waiting on a final contract to be signed for some work in North Carolina during that time, then we'll cancel. Some person on the waiting list will be happy. Maybe next year.

Do many people have campfires at Ocean Lakes? Also, I was looking in to using the ring that folds up. That would be burning on the ground and not a elevated ring. Is that permissible? Don't want to spend money on something I can't use.

Not sure of there but most where I have been do not allow fire on the ground unless they have provided a ring. Those that ok your own permit propane fire pits only. Love my propane pit.

Yes, if you bring a fire ring you can. But, and that is big but, it is normally too windy every evening to have a safe fire.

I only saw one fire while I was there, probably for this very reason. They were permitted but with the limitations caused by the wind. I know there was a big fire at one of the other campgrounds near there right after we left. I never heard the cause of the fire though.

I know the skate park was damaged in the hurricane and was scheduled to be open again this summer. Anyone know if it's operational? Don't want to talk it up to my son of it's not open.

State Park in.Myrtle Beach only closed for a short period. I have reservations there for July 1-9. You have to plan a year out to get a week there. If you do not mind moving every couple of days you may get a spot.

Being a MB local we avoid the area as much as possible during the summer. Too much traffic. If you want a place to 'camp' with all the amenities including fire rings try Daddy Joes Jellystone Park in Tabor City. It's has it all and still only 20 min. from the beach. Agree 10,000%. DJs is a nice CG and away from the traffic and crime. Try Brunswick Beaches in Sunset Beach NC. Closer to the beach and MB if you really want to go there for tourist traps.
