Rest Stop

Looking for a place to stop for 1 night on my way to Bar Harbor Me from PA. A safe rest stop Somewhere near the border of New Hampshire and Maine would probably be ideal. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Are you traveling I-95? If so

Check here. I'm not familiar with that area, so no help. I go south for vacation, not north!

Can you actually spend the night at rest stops? We will be headed to Edisto Beach SP, SC in June and are considering spending the night en route. DH thought a rest area might work since all we will be doing is sleep. In a situation like this our priorities would be safety, price and convenience. If this is possible, is there a time limit?

We 'overnight' at least twice a year (for 20 years) at 'rest stops'. Always fine to do an 'overnight'. Don't walk around alone and lock everything up when you retire for the night. Parking in between a few big rigs may be noisy (the noise of the trucks will rock you to sleep) but it will be safer in the middle of them, than off to the side by yourself.

Install the app RV PARKY in your phone, will show all walmarts, rest areas, cracker barrel, and campgrounds, pilot & flying Js great site if you get familiar with it. You can sit at home and look at your whole trip before hand for places to overnight just by dragging the map as you go. Enjoy.

TruckerPath is another app that can help find rest areas, truck stops, truck washes, and fuel. Good luck!

There is a T/A truck stop just before the Maine border in Greenland NH. I believed overnight in NH rest areas is not allowed. There is also a travel plaza on 95 not to far into Maine. There are plenty of campgrounds in that area.

Ditto on RV Parky! When DW and I were planning a trip to the Atlanta area last summer for a wedding in Cummings (about 20 miles outside of Atl) I used Parky to scope out the closet cg's to where the wedding was being held. Landed up giving the cg we stayed at 9 out of 10 on campgroundreviews.com. No problems staying at rest stops, DW and I prefer them to Wal-Marts etc. Sometimes we'll park amongst the trucks and some we'll park in the car lot if it is big enough and almost empty.
