After Winchester, VA we take I66 to US 17 to I 95 to get to the south side of the Blue Ridge Mtns. & warmer weather with less chance of snow.

Have taken I-81 from upstate NY south to Florida (switch to I-77, I-26 and I-95) in North/South Carolina. Very nice road, no DC traffic...nice and flat south of Harrisburg.

Have taken I-75 all the way south from Cincinatti...nice road, easy, lots of services.

Avoid I-77 north of I-81. Lots of big grades, fog...can be terrible in any season.
