Ropes Course @ Big Timber Lake Cape May NJ

We spent Memorial Day Weekend this year at Big Timber Lake in Cape May NJ. Getting to and from this campground is all about timing since you can easily find yourself thrust deep into Jersey Shore traffic that can take upward of 2.5 hours to drive 3 miles.

BTL is a nice campground, VERY big, a lot of activities. New this season is an adventure ropes course in the trees with several zip lines and lots of challenging obstacles to traverse. Cool thing about it is that it is VERY well staffed, and they have booking limits so that it does not get crowded, and stays safe to use. It's 22 bucks for a two hour time slot and they make sure you have ample training on the harnessing and the clips that you use to secure yourself onto the safety wires. The course is divided into beginner/intermediate/advanced and has a 265 pound weight limit. If you are Jersey Shore bound it is worth checking out.

Sounds like the traffic when we went to Stone Harbor in the fifties!
Guess it has not improved much?

As a local to the Jersey Shore it is all about timing and knowing back roads! Stayed at Big Timber last year when it was under construction and are going back in July.

Good to know. Rope courses and zip lines seem to be getting more popular. Tennessee is loaded with them. Big Timber is only 1/2 hour drive taking my select roads.
Eagles609, keep the noise down about them back roads.

Yeah, I've lived in South NJ all my life. Traffic is the reality. You are correct the Jersey Shore is ALL about timing and backroads until you hit a holiday weekend where timing your arrival/departure is not based on which hour of the day, but what day of the week is best to avoid traffic.

Timing down the shore. HA I was in labor a
weekend during middle of summer in Cape May ( lived on Coast Guard Base). Oh it was raining too. Made it but first time parents did not need that experience.
