Route advice NC/VA

We are traveling to Natural Bridge VA for the weekend. Driving 32' Sunseeker with Honda Odyssey toad.
We had mapped 29/86 from Chapel Hill NC to Lynchburg VA; then 501 the rest of the way.
Anyone know if this would be good for us or if we should go over to 220 in Greensboro up to 81 and in?
(we live between Apex and Pittsboro NC which is SW of Raleigh)

Any "been there done that" will be appreciated!

Not familiar with route before Lynchburg, but 501 is good until after Blue Ridge Parkway. After Snowden, road is up and over the mountain to Glasgow. Should be no problem, you will just have to take your time last 5 - 6 miles. Love RV ing at Jellystone in Natural Bridge.

Coming from Raleigh you have several options. I would take 29. good open road once you get past Danville. You will hit some mountain areas, but it will be pretty close to you destination. 501 is a good route also, but haven't been that way in a while. I take 29 from Northern Va. often when headed to NC.
