RV on throughway

I plan to drive my 5th wheel to the coast of Massachusetts via the NY throughway and Mass turnpike. Can anyone let me know if 5th wheels are allowed on both these roads?
Tks

no problem with the Mass Pike. Get an Easy Pass. Don't pay by plate.

Depending on where you are leaving from and where in Massachusetts you are headed, there may be an alternative route.... The thruway tolls are outrageous and the road leaves a lot to be desired...Let me know where you are leaving from and what your destination is... I might be able to help as I traveled those routes many times while living in NY.....State..

I took the Masspike and NY Thwy all the way from Boston I495 to the PA line this summer in an 30 ft RV towing a car, so 4 axles. On my Ipass the tolls were $64 for the whole trip. Saw many 5th wheels, there were no restrictions or low bridges, all clear sailing.

Garden State Parkway no RVs. NJ Turnpike is ok. Have a safe trip.

I believe you are incorrect, the Garden State Parkway is the only parkway that rv's are allowed, now I am not positive and they might only be allowed at the southern end but their web site and weight class description shows them.

I knew it was something like that as a friend lives just off of the GSP and always tows on it to Cape May or when he rides the ferry

Google Maps is your friend. They usually show more than one route from point A to point B with time differences. I agree that you should avoid the Mass Pike if you can. Terrible road and outrageous tolls.

Not true. RVs, as well as buses, are allowed on the entire length of the GSP. Trucks over 10k are not allowed north of exit 105.

^^^Campers and motor homes are permitted on the entire length of the parkway. This is assuming they don't have commercial plates. ^^^

"Q: Are there any restrictions on trailers pulled by cars and light trucks on the Garden State Parkway?"

A: While there are some weight and length restrictions, non-commercial car and pick-up truck-pulled trailers are allowed on the Parkway, said Thomas Feeney, a New Jersey Turnpike Authority spokesman. The Authority runs the Parkway.

"Generally, campers and attached non-commercial trailers and semi-trailers are permitted on the Parkway, even north of (Exit) 105," he said. "Cars, vans and pick-up trucks pulling trailers are not prohibited."

Turnpike Authority rules said that non-commercial tow vehicles and trailers up to 45 feet in length may use the Parkway. Recreational vehicles towing trailers also may use the Parkway as long the total length doesn't exceed 62 feet. Weight restrictions, based on the number of axles on a trailer, also apply.

There are some low bridge clearances above mile marker 130. You might want to call the parkway authority.

I meant to mention that in the northern sections there were a couple bridges that had a lower clearance but were well marked. The center lane on those was fine but were lower in either the far right or left lane. My motor home is 12 feet and had no issues

When I left NJ in 1971, trailers were only permitted on the GSP in the southern part of the state. The NJ Turnpike permitted trailers, semi trailers way back then. I once drove large wide load AC units from NYC to Newark Airport when it was built in it's current location.
