Check out Wekiva Falls RV Resort. Short drive west of Sanford on Hwy 46. Nice place.

Good deal - should be beautiful then! Hurricane season will be over, dry season will have started, temps really nice. Since we live so close, we've never stayed there but we drove over and checked the place out a few weeks ago anyway. Everyone I know who has stayed there really enjoyed it. Pretty laid back, friendly, clean and really spread out. When you follow Hwy 46 back to the east, you'll cross under I-4 and then see a large shopping mall to your right, restaurants all around, BJ's Wholesale just up the road. Sam's is a couple of miles south of the mall. For best selection of restaurants, go to the second traffic light past I-4 (I think that's right) and hang a right. About a mile down you'll find Red Robin, Longhorn, Cheddar's, PDQ, Panda Express, Taco Bell. etc. If you like German food, there's a place in downtown Sanford called the Willow Tree that everyone raves about. Enjoy and just yell back if you have any questions. Stay safe.

Thanks for the additional info about the Sanford area. I am sure it will be very useful.

My seasonal neighbor here in Cincy stayed there for a full season 2 years back and really liked it. We are exploring the possibility for spending Nov. and part of Dec. at Wekiva Falls and look farther south for a place. We would like to be around Vero for a while (Jan. through Mar.) since my grandkids will be moving to the Okeechobee area very soon. Any experiences in that area?

Nick M: All I can tell you about that area is start looking early. Around Okeechobee is the sort of unofficial sun bird capitol of the world (don't go near a buffet on Friday evening!). Most of the places I've seen down there are just mobile home parks that let RV's come in and they fill up quickly. Vero Beach to Okeechobee looks close on a map but it's a very long drive when you follow the roadways down there. I would suggest you look over in the Fort Meyers and Cape Coral areas. Better driving, much prettier countryside in my opinion and farther from Miami (which is a good thing!).
