sc beach state park

Hi. Gonna be heading to sc at the end of august. Considering myrtle beach sp and the sp at the inlet. Myrtle is busy, small sites and cant take dog to beach. The one near inlet is supposed to be quiet, bigger sites, dogs can go to beach. But, mosquitos are reported as pretty intense there. Any thoughts or recommendations? Would prefer a sp as we are tenting this trip. Thanks. Also, ocean beach a must.

We stayed at Huntington Beach State Park in late winter/early spring in 2012. Loved it !!

Much to do there. Atalaya is on the grounds. There is a nature center. There are many kinds of critters to watch the inland waters. Brookgreen Botanical Garden is nearby..........I am not a flower person, but I could have easily spent a day there.

We took our canoe and did a 1/2 day trip around the inlet. We biked to the town and had lunch 1 day.

Did I mention there it is a great beach !!

Sango had a blast, also:

Have visited Hunnungton, not camped there yet. But it is much quieter tha MBSP. And SO many great restaurants right there in Murrell's Inlet. Try Flo's for some Cajun inspires southern cooking.
Somewhere in Sunny South Carolina.

We took a drive through the Myrtle Beach state park and the Huntington Beach State Park last year when we were down in a time share. WE liked the Huntington Beach State Park a lot better. That is the one I would choose.
