Stayed 3 nights at Shenandoah valley campground in Mt. Jackson last week. Fairly new cg (opened in 2008) close to I84.... walking distance to Shenandoah Cave and near SNP...first day we did the skyline drive N to S second day we went caving.

Shenandoah River State Park is our go to CG for a nice quiet stay. Reservations are not site specific, but there are hardly any bad sites in the park.

We are going to Cape Hatteras this month, but looking to head to the mountains in July. Leaning toward Shenandoah Valley campground. Waiting to hear reviews. Keep us posted.

Shanandoah valley campground was nice kids had a blast floating and fishing in the river. Pool was nice they need more chairs. Has a really nice waterfall at the end of the campground. Campsites are somewhat small. Very helpful staff and great atmosphere. We will be back.
