Shipshewana Flea Market

Going to Shipshewana Indiana 6/20-6/23 for the flea market. Thinking about the Shipshewana South Campground. Any feedback on the Campground and attractions of the area will be greatly appreciated.

Nice campground, I used the campground right at the flea market and even tho not as nice it also was good and less expensive, South looks much nicer. The Flea market campground is first come style so I would not arrive on a market day as they fill up.

Stayed there a few years ago. Nice campground, good sized sites, not much to do in the park. You're a few miles south of town, but don't expect a lot of night life there either. One big restaurant in town (forget the name) had really good home cooked food, but that's about the only choice. You can go to Elkhart for more urban excitement. If you can, take a factory tour at one of the many RV manufacturers in the area.

Visit the Hudson Museum if you have time. We did a couple of years ago and thought it was fantastic. I may by a little bypassed since my first car was a 47 Hudson.

We were fortunate enough to meet the collector and get an autographed copy of his autobiography.

Shipshewana Flea Market

Ok. Shipshewana south is great campground-- we stayed there several times. 1/2 mile south of the flea market. Flea market has campground also. Not near as nice. There is a Shipshewana north also-- 3 mile north of town. (More rustic)

In downtown probably 1 mile north of campground--1/2 mile north of flea market--- there are many shops with all assortment of items-- most are houses that have been converted to shops.

At the North end of the street downtown is a huge 4 story building. Davis Mercantile that has many shops in it. 4 th floor has an antique working calliope (cool). There is a snack shop in there to. Good sandwiches

All of these stores are for the most part one block East of the main N/S highway 5.

Hudson museum great--stop in at the visitors center across from the Big Red Barn at the flea market. They have Amish tours and list of all attractions. RV hall of fame museum east side of Elkhart. Nice

FOOD--Rise & roll bakery on HWY 20 east of Middlebury--Essenhaus resturant in Middlebury on HWY 20 ( great country cooking). --Bluegate resturant downtown Shipshewana ( country food). Best Hambergers-Flippin Cow in Elkhart North end of town on HWY 19.

Been to Shipshewana many times. We love to just drive around the country side looking at the Amish gardens & flowers. They really take pride in their farms & gardens.

Without a doubt visit the Rise N Roll bakery just outside of town toward Goshen. Get a cinnamon donut. Better yet get a dozen.
