Smokey Mountains

Looking at camping near Gatlinburg in a few weeks. Whats the best way to get from Asheville NC to TN. I remember I40 has some decent hills. How is I70, looks pretty flat.

I40 has some decent hills but are easily navigated. Plus you have great scenery along the way.

my concern is I am towing just under my limit. I am worried about 40, been through there a bunch in just the vehicle never towed through there. That's why I was considering 70 instead if it wasn't as steep.

70 has some steeper grades than 40.

I40 is the best choice. You can't get to Gatlinburg on I70, it is 300-400 miles north.

this is where we are actually going. takings 70 only added about 40 miles. but if its going to be steeper I think I will just take 40.

Ok, Hwy 70 make sense; I70 had me very confused this AM.
I agree, take I40. But have to ask why Gatlinburg?
Ever look at Townsend? Access to the GSMNP, but quiet; especially when compared to Gatlinburg, and yet Gatlinburg is still an easy drive to visit.
