Smoky Mountains
I am looking for a good RV park around the Gatlinburg area in late May early June. Any suggestion and advice would be helpful.

I have never camped at smoky mountains but I have been to bear cove and rivers edge. Both are nice and friends that have stayed there like them.

We have reservations in June at Lazy Daze in Townsend, TN. We camped there in our pop up years ago. It is not the fanciest park, but it is on the Little River and they have a pool. Townsend is quiet compared to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. It is about a twenty minute ride to Gatlinburg, but is close to Cades Cove and the Smoky Mountain National Forest. No chain restaurants. Tubing on the Little River. The nice thing about the campground is that they have pictures of their sites so you can see what you think.

I rode through Big Meadow Family Campground in Townsend. Looked very nice. Right next to River Rats tubing. A must do when in the area. Bit of a ride to Gatlinburg though, if you want to be near everything. Are a few in the very southern edge of Pigeon Forge that would be closer to Gatlinburg.

I highly recommend Pine Mountain RV in Pigeon Forge. Concrete sites and patios. You can get a back in site with a creek behind your site. It is on the trolley loop but just far enough off of the strip to insulate you from the lights, glitz and glamour. We will be there in July. We are also going to try a new CG, Anchor Down, on Douglas Lake. I have driven through and the sites are spectacular. Hands down best sites I have ever seen. It is a further distance from Pigeon Forge and Gatlingburg/Great Smoky Mountains but well worth consideration. I am booked in twice there this year.

We've been there 3 times.
Wife always wants site on the creek rather than one further inside so we
pay the extra for a creek side.
They are pretty decent and like others have said OUT of the main stream.
We will stay there again.
Inside roads are gravel but I don't remember dust being that much
of a problem. Loud motorcycles going by on the outside were a bit of
a bother but not too bad. You'll hear them just about anywhere in
the smokies.
Enjoy your stay!!

DW and I camped at Up a Creek in Pigeon Forge in October for 7 days. It was nice to be away from the crowds that seem to plague Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.
We pulled in late and the people next to us offered us dinner since we were just getting settled.

I only have one -small- gripe about Treemont CG. They only have a single
lane to get past the office. If someone is checking in and you want to
get back to your rig, you have to wait.
Last time we were there we came back from a motorcycle ride and saw
2 in line at the office. I went in the out lane and some dude on a golf
cart chased us down and gave me a tongue lashing.... if it weren't for that
one instance, I'd give them high praise.
I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

Pigeon Forge
We have stayed at Pine Mountain RV Park for several years now and will be there again on 3/7/15. We love it because it is clean quiet and just a couple of blocks from the center of town. I highly recommend it but get your reservations early.

Look up Anchor Down Rv resort. By far, this is the nicest campground I have ever stayed at in the area. The view (while not wooded) is simply breathtaking. Not a bad site in the whole park.

Stayed at Creekside RV Park in Pigeon Forge last September. I gave it a 10 out of 10 on campgroundreviews.com. We had site 28 which backed up to a creek and though the sites are somewhat tight, with the creek behind us we felt like we had our own back yard. Peaceful and well cared for with great shower houses. On the shuttle bus run to PF, Gatlinburg, Sevierville etc. and of course the National Park.

We stayed at Up the Creek just outside Pigeon Forge last May. Very nice campground and close to everything. Day trip over to Asheville is worth it for the Biltmore House as well.
