Exclamation South bound I-75 Closure Detroit Mich Area

Just saw a report. Southbound I-75 will be closed for approximately 2 years starting in early February. Northbound will remain open. Here is a map of the construction area.
I suspect this will be a major issue for folks coming into the US thru Windsor and trying to head south. I-94 is another option to get to I-275 but is heavily traveled. During non-rush hours, I would consider taking I-94 to Telegraph US-24 then south to pickup I-75 south of the construction. Expect LOTS of semi traffic whichever way you go.

Hi. I'm planning a trip south from Kitchener Ont. hoping to visit Dolly Wood, Nashville and Memphis. Plan on two weeks in June. If you have suggestions on routs and places to camp it would appreciated.

I'm not a lot of help on places to camp. I know there aren't many in Ohio. I'll be heading down to the Solar Eclipse Rally in August and plan to stay in Lexington at the Kentucky Horse Park. I haven't stayed there before but it does have good reviews. Electric/Water only, no full hookups. It is located just north of Lexington on Iron Works Pike road.
To get thru Detroit, I suggest crossing in Sarnia/Port Huron, I-94 south to I-696 to I-275 then you have 2 choices:
1. 275 to M-14 west to US-23 then south to pickup I-75 south of Toledo.
2. Just stay on 275 until it dumps into 75.

When I head south of Toledo, I tend to take option 1, you avoid the heavy truck traffic until you get back on 75. The two options are about the same length. I would not take I-69 to Flint then US-23 South. There is extensive construction on US-23 from south of Brighton to just north of Ann Arbor.

I have some time before the trip and I have sent for some information from tourisum from each state so will put everything together and decide on a rout. thanks again.

Would taking I94 all the way to 275 and then south to I75 be a viable option or would there be too much truck traffic?

I avoid driving thru Detroit at all cost. Traffic is very wonky, parts really need to be replaced, and many people have little respect for others on the road, they think acceptable following distance is 3 feet at 65 MPH. I've watched people decide to exit the x-way from the left lane - fast swerve across 3 lanes in heavy traffic!
Traffic near downtown is always heavy.
