South from Port Republic NJ Toll Roads

We will be leaving Port Republic NJ then to Lothian, Maryland and would like to avoid toll roads. The last 60$ one was enough for us. We are leaving Lothian and heading Gloucester, Virginia. Then off to New Bern, North Carolina, then to S Carolina, Charleston. From there we will be heading to Jacksonville, Florida. Any travel hints would be appreciated. Driving a 40' Berkshire and towing a Jeep.

I think the only toll is on Rt 301 because of the bridge, Just head towards DC and take the beltway around to 95 and head south.

Delaware is going to get you 2x, the bridge & near Christiana Mall exit 1 . You will pay for the Bay Bridge south of Baltimore.

You can avoid both tolls in DE, just get your maps out, we have had good luck pulling our old 30ft TT on the secondary roads.

You can avoid the Bay Bridge by going around Baltimore on the west side. It is just a longer drive. You could also go through Baltimore but I would not recommend it.

If you want more details, give me what your planned roads for DE & MD & I'll have my DW look at her directions that we use. I just drive it .

You are fortunate to miss all that mess. Your part of PA is very nice, my DW & I are Ski Instructors at Roundtop. Think Snow .

Thanks, I live about 8 miles from Roundtop. I haven't skied there in years but played paintball there last year.

Last time heading south to jax from phila took 95 to 896 in Del. Then caught 301 S./ 50 over to Va. no tolls and good roads. saved 30 min over the 95 mess. Can't remember complete drive. Less stress than wash, balt. and all that constuction.
