Southern Coast of NC Campgrounds?

Does anyone have knowledge of some nice campgrounds on the southern coast of NC? We'll be heading from Charleston SC back to Ohio this fall and would like to stop for a few days on the NC coast. We're looking for something around the Wilmington/Topsail Island/Morehead City areas. We prefer to hit this area rather than the Outer Banks, as if we went there we'd have to head inland quite a way and then go east again.

Or if you have any other suggestions, we're open to those, too!

We have a 29' TT and truck, and prefer quieter, less commercialized areas. No need for anything fancy or with kids' activities, etc, as it's just the two of us.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Camp Hatteras if you can get in...

Camp Hatteras RV Resort and Campground - Campgrounds / RV Parks - Lodging - The Outer Banks - North Carolina

For quiet home town atmosphere you can't beat the outer banks.

Quite pricey...but
Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort Emerald Isle, North Carolina
Holiday Trav-L-Park Resort - Emerald Isle, NC - RV Park Reviews

looks like a good bet on a nice stretch of beach.
Nothing long this stretch is like the outer banks but the beaches are nice and the waves a lot shorter.

Are you military or retired military? If so there is a wonderful campground on Cherry Point Marine Air Station at Havelock, NC

Have stayed many times at the Wilmington KOA. Nice place, convenient to all the in town spots.

Like others have posted, KOA Wilmington - stayed there and liked it.

Never stayed at either of these but drove by them while in the area. Both looked good.

http://http://www.wprvpark.com/ $60 is not cheap but rated high. May have more stuff than you need/want.

Waters Edge RV Park | Coastal NC Campground A little cheaper but not rated as high.

Did stay here last spring - visiting family in Jacksonville, NC. Very quiet and relaxing place. Home

Probably further from coast than you want to be but is short drive to Swansboro and very inexpensive ($35/night or $150/wk.)
