Jeez dude. Sorry to hear that.

How fast over the limit were you going while towing your camper and hauling your family?

I was doing 65 in a 45. I was travelling with a group of cars and I guess I'm a much bigger target. And he got me.

I drive the limit (plus 5 if safe) and stay in the right hand lane.
(moving over only for cops with customers and road crews).
I don't worry much about traffic or cops.

Even though I have a CB and listen to the truckers I watch my speed. Today there were several unreported PA "Smokie" picture takers. They were doing a land office business and I never once took it off speed control.

I also don't mess around in road maintenance areas, either. When the sign says 40, I am doing 40, if safe. Depending on where the workers are even the posted limit may not be safe for them.

If you are behind me feel free to "give me the gesture" when you pass.
The dude on the side of the road with the nice police officer won't be me...

I'm tooling along doing the speed limit with everyone passing me, and then I see blue flashing lights ahead. All of a sudden, I have to slow down because everyone is going under the speed limit. Why, why, why ???

I need to update my profile. I traded the Dodge in for Tundra. Needed more pull. Don't get me wrong. I miss the Hemi sound. Now I back up traffic doing the speed limit.

X2 Herk, I agree with you 100% but, I am usually in the 55-60 mph range, rarely 65.

With tires rated for 60 mph, (camper tires), I'd rather run a little slower, and get there 20 minutes later than spend an hour on the side of the road changing one, and get there with no spare tire. You make your choices, you pay your consequences.

As for the work zones, wife works for DOT, and if she gets caught speeding in a work zone, even on a week-end, in a personal vehicle, she looses her job. Definitely watch the speed when towing.
