We go to Ocean Lakes but it will be more crowded this year / summer. They are to open a new 2 Acre water park, They have a big arcade, a small putt putt but there are many great Putt Putts in the Myrtle Beach area we like Mt Atlanticus the best. Pools and almost a mile of beach. Most of the ocean front sites are small and a golf cart to get around is almost a must. Many sites have concrete pads which helps keep sand to a minimum in the camper.

But it is the biggest campground on the East Coast 850 Campsites and 2500 plus permanent site and can be crowded. They have 450 employees in the summer months. If you don't like crowds it might not be for you.

We have been going to Myrtle Beach for 20 plus years and it changes annually...

I agree it's a lot of money but you get a lot of value for the money. It really depends what you are looking for. A lot of activities or just to relax.

Our granddaughter really enjoys feeding the ducks at Ocean Lakes. There are several lakes/ponds. We buy cracked corn at a local pet store and visit the ponds once or twice each day. She also loves going to Wonder Works here in MB. IT is a great place for kids 6 and up.

Ya the summer rates are $77- $84 but there are alot of things to do and the new water park has to be paid for But those that think its to high no problem they are nearly booked for the entire summer................ We prefer spring & fall but the kids need the summer.....

I keep seeing posters say these are almost booked. There are sites at all three parks I mentioned, at least 20 are ocean front which i imagine there are others open too. I do get the importance of booking now for summer but none of these are booked yet for anyone interested.

Now that I know we'll have to pay for the water park I may change my mind about paying it.

I just checked 3 random weeks in the summer at Ocean Lakes they were almost full. No water front sites are available. The June & July weeks were almost full, the one or two sites closer to the water are not big enough for larger campers. You still can get sites late in August as many kids have gone back to school. Now if you want to break camp & move to different sites you may get in or back in the 4000 back section (which is not really that bad unless the trees get in the way.

We made our reservations last summer for July 2016 and still could not get in the area we wanted.

Not sure why everyone thinks Ocean Lakes is a lot higher......... Summer rates are $77- $84.................. Pirateland $74-81.........Lakewood $75-$88........ Myrtle Beach Travel Park for full hookup $78. They all have close to the same rates.
And of course rates are subject to change

That may be why... I'm looking in mid August before we go back to school here, so that'll be a plus if many kids are back in school already! Thanks!

Hey you can't put a price on the happiness of the grandkids. One of our friends is staying at Ocean Lakes for 4th of July this year he made his reservations last year when they stayed. I'm not quite sure what he's paying. Generally in the summer we stay in the mountains of NC and try to go to the beach either in the spring or the fall but that's just us everybody has their own times they like to stay at the beach
