Started Jack & Joan's Epic Road Trip

We finally started our first Epic road trip. We left home Monday about 2.5 hours behind what I was hoping for and made it to Ashland Va. to Ameri-Camps for the night. Tuesday morning I woke up with a floater in my eye so we had to find an Opthamologist to examine my eye to rule out any serious problem. Nothing serious yet but I need to find another Doctor in a week to have it checked again. This took another two hours of our drive time. We are spending tonight at RVacations in Selma NC. They are calling for snow in this area overnight so don't know if we will hit the road in the morning or not. It was 47 degrees when we got hear but is suppose to get colder overnight. We will post updates frequently if anyone is interested.

Cool. We set out about this time in 2012 for our "One Lap of America". 300 days on the road, 41 States, 27K miles.

Memories that will last as long as we do!

Safe travels!

Awesome! All the questions as above.

I’d love to know itinerary, sight-seeing plans, and anything else you want to share!

And pictures. Love pictures!

Following with loads of envy.

And, one suggestion that if you haven't already, load the app Windy on your cell phone.

I use Windy to see what winds I'll face on my chosen path and to sometimes alter my path to avoid unfriendly weather.

We stayed at RVacation campground several times and the people there are very nice. This last trip down on the 2nd of January we couldn't get our propane to work and the guy solved our problem and saved us a lot of money. If you don't feel like cooking supper go to Grandson's buffet in Smithfield. If I remember right it was the next exit down on I 95 and very easy to get to. Fantastic food and cheap. Safe travels!

Just searched for that app and there are a couple. Which one in particular do you use? Thanks.

Started Jack & Joan's Epic Road Trip

Thanks to everyone who has shown an interest in our adventure. I don't want to offend anyone so I won't try to name everyone. It did not snow last night in Smithfield NC. so we got a fairly early start and started down I-95. There was ice in the treetops along the side of the road but the roads were bone dry. We did hit rain around Lumberton NC. all the way to Walterboro NC. where we decided to stop for the night. We are staying in Eagles RV campground. This is pretty basic full hoookups, pretty good Wifi and nothing else. The guy who runs the place is very friendly and helpful. I can't believe it is still so cold this far South just 37 degrees tonight and supposed to dip into upper 20's. I thought we would be able to dewinterize by now but it will have to wait one more day. We started from Western Maryland on Monday morning for those that asked. Our first planned stop is St. Augustine FL. for a few days. We are not on a actual schedule our plan is to just mostly wing it. Our ultimate goal is to head West to AZ. for a month or more and then work our way back home. We plan to do a lot of sightseeing in FL, Tx, maybe NM. We plan on using I-10 W and just branching off near it to be Touristy. I will try to post some pics when I finally take some but I don,t know how that will work out. This is a stretch for me to even be doing this much. Hope you didn't get to bored reading all this. Imay not post every day but try to do it every few days. If i missed anyone 's question feel free to ask me again.

When looking for the Windy app, in the app store the icon is a red/burgundy background with a double, white swoosh.

If it helps, it’s cold everywhere! We have 70 degrees in North Fort Myers but overnight, it’s supposed to get down to the low-mid 30s tonight!

Not everywhere. ☀️ High 70's today in Palm Springs. Well, it is going to be in lower 50's overnight, that is cold. [emoji2]
