Hello Everyone! posted some pics for you to look at nothing spectacular but we thought some would enjoy them. We are now about 15 miles outside Savannah GA. at Savannah Oaks RV Resort. I haven't had time to check the place out yet but not impressed with what I see so far. We will sleep late tomorrow and then check out some of Savannah on our own. We will probably do the trolley tour on Tuesday. Here's a tip for anyone who is going to travel on I-10 thirty miles west of Jacksonville to Pensacola there is not much gas or food to choose from. The same is true coming East form Pensacola there is not much food or gas to choose from until about 30 miles outside Jacksonville. You will pay a premium for gas in that area. We will be here for four nights . We are winding down to the end of our trip which makes me sad but I'm not sure how the DW feels. We may go to Myrtle Beach through Easter wekkend and the head home. It has been a great experience though and hope we can do it again next year.

I hate I didn't read this thread till today. Love all the pics, especially of the Nimitz Museum. I'm trying to get out there this summer.

It appears you've already passed New Orleans on your way back. I don't know if you have visited the World War II Museum there, but it is awesome. We have to go at least once a year with all the new stuff they keep adding.

https://www.nationalww2museum.org/

They recently added a restored WWII PT boat to their collection too. However, the difference here, is she is housed on Lake Pontchartrain. and on Saturdays, you can ride on her for a price.

PT-305: The Ride of a Lifetime | The National WWII Museum in New Orleans

Keep those pics coming in, please.

You guys are messing with my thread with your corny alligator jokes .
Wmtire i wish you would have started reading sooner also I would love to have taken a ride on that PT boat. We have been to New Orleans before and it was sort of a been there done that sort of thing when we were younger and could do it. I did not know of the World War II museum there. I had thought of stopping to go yo Pat O'Briens Bar for ST. Pats Day but knew that would be a bad idea.

Camper70, your Mrs. probably "really" thought it would've been a bad idea to go to O'Brien's for St. Pat's. You dodged one there! LOL!!!

Hi Everyone! Sherman12 I did mention the possibilities of O'Brien's but she agreed it would probably not be a good idea. That place can get crazy enough on any weekend. You will not find a better Hurricane though. Wolverine 1945 we were told we missed the craziness on ST. Pats day here in Savannah. They go big time here along River St. We saw a railing that somebody physically tore off the wall along the river. I'm glad you found the thread KWHITE2018 and thanks for your comments. It has been a little boring the past couple days because we have no pics. We went into Savannah today but an afternoon thunderstorm ruined most of the day. Hoping we have better luck tomorrow.

My son was stationed in the military in Savannah, Hunter Army Airfield, special forces and one year they ran out of all beer and hard booze on River Street on St. Patrick's Day eve around 1 AM. They had to "sweep" the street one end to the other to close all bars fearing a riot would break out. Bars got totally re-stocked by noon St. Pat's day.

Just read where you did a day trip to Blue Springs SP (FL) back in Jan. I’m about 15 miles from there, and ride the bike path past the springs a couple times a week ! Sounds like you had a great adventure during your extended vacation !

Hello Everyone! We are now at Myrtle Beach Travel Park after spending 4 nights near Savannah Ga. I do have some pics to load from Savannah but not a lot. We will be here in Myrtle Beach until at last March 31 although we are hoping for some cancellations so we can stay to April 2 or 3. I could you someone to golf with if anyone is staying in the area just send me a PM. the weather here is a little cool but not bad and is supposed to warm up after the weekend. We are a little ahead of ourselves and should have stayed farther south for another week before heading home. We will probably do nothing much this week but kick back and relax before heading home. We have been on more of a whirlwind than planned and need some down time. I won't go into details but we were not happy at Savannah Oaks RV Resort. The first thing is they are not even close to being a resort. The only paved roads they claim to have are one leading part way into the campground and the exit road. The rest of the roads are sand or dirt with just a hint of gravel. I did not use the facilities but did check them out. They are clean but the toilet/ shower are in one little room which has to be locked for privacy so if several people are taking showers you cannot use the bathroom for a nature call. The site they gave us was an uphill sand site that is usually used only for long term stays. My tongue was only several inches from the ground to get level. I had to lay my surge protector on the ground to plug it in. The electric was 2 inches above ground. They would not let me look at the site before I paid and no refunds. I was in the office complaining about the site and they let another guy take some people in to look around. They were not even camping there. I will say though to there credit they gave me a full refund at the end. So all's well that ends well. Sorry for the rant I know that is not what you want to see on here.
Savannah is a very pretty city and the Azaleas were in full bloom. We would like to go back sometime and see the Magnolia trees in bloom. We took the Old Savannah Trolley Tour and the guides on there were amazing. They also have some costumed characters come on the trolley to tell some history of Savannah. We took a tour of the Sorrel-Weeds House which is still being restored. It is also supposed to be the most haunted houses in Savannah. We did not go on the night time tour to find out. We rode around on our own just to take in some of the historic area with all the tees with the Spanish Moss hanging in them. Everyone we encountered was very friendly.
We are thinking about riding down to Charleston Sc. for a day trip if anybody knows of something that is a must see let us know.
