I'm headed to Staunton for a training class in aug. Taking the fiver and staying at Shenandoah valley camping in Verona I think. How's that campground??

Not the best. We will not go back
Feels like camping in the middle of a gravel parking lot

East of Staunton there is a wonderful campground that we love. It is located in Crozet. Off exit 107 of 64. It is called Misty Mountain. Depending on where your training is at in Staunton it will take about 20minutes to get to Staunton from Crozet.

Also when you pull up the campground it's actual address is in Greenwood Virginia.

Hope this helps if you need anything else or have more questions let me know I will be happy to answer.

Happy Camping

Besides Misty Mountain in Crozet, there is also Walnut Hill just south of Staunton.

I have not camped in either, but have rode through both of those, and both seemed OK.

Walnut Hill is probably closer to Staunton, and no worries with fog on Afton Mountain if commuting.

I have stayed several times at the KOA in Verona and found it to be a pleasure each time.

I know this his a bit of a bump, but I thought I'd add that the Verona Campground is no longer a KOA, but a private owned Good Sam park. It's our favorite campground locally to stay at. Then again we have 3 kids and there is plenty for them to do there. They have cool stuff to do on the weekends. Heated pool that's open till Halloween. 2 really nice playgrounds if you have smaller kids. A river right behind the campground that you can tube down to the waterfalls. Sites are big enough to accommodate the larger campers of today.

I want to stay at Misty Mountain. I have no desire what so ever to stay at Walnut Hills. My wife and I did not like that campground at all. Shenandoah Acres is also a pretty nice campground. Big lake to swim in and sites are really large.
