We second the Branches CG on Grand Island. We stayed there last 4th of July. In order to see the "Falls" we booked thru Gray Line Tours, can be done at the Branches office. They came picked us up for a day tour, brought back for dinner, picked us up for the night tour. Only way to go as far as I'm concerned. No parking hassle, they know where to take you, everything was right up close, both outside and inside the falls. They also get you thru customs quicker going into CA and out of CA. You can get under where the water falls and comes over your head. They also took us to see the two super large hydro-electric plants up river from the falls. May seem a little $$$ but did the US & CA sides during the day & night. Have to go at night to see the falls light up in color. CA side has a space needle w/restaurant.

currently in niagara, canada side right now! although we opted out of the camper for this trip and staying at great wolf lodge. happy we made that decision since it was 30, windy and snowed today! took us about 15 minutes to wait in line for customs...but they did decide they needed to pull us to the side and search our vehicle. quite the site as we sat with our 5 kids on a bench while they rummaged thru our truck looking for firearms! thought about asking one of the officers if they would cuff the kids for pictures but thought they may not see the humor in it.

check the reviews online for the touristy stuff on the canada side, some things are deceiving from the street and not as nice as they appear. stayed on the american side, not a lot to do there but goat island is pretty cool. maid of the mist is closed but another company taking over on the canada side in june.

just seeing the falls is worth the trip alone!
