Question Sunpass needed for Disney, Sea World and Lego Land

So as the title says.. Trying to decide is it worth the $20 plus toll money added to get around for our trip to Disney and area this winter? We are staying at Ft Wilderness for the Disney part and think our route via 95 and 4 avoid the tolls.. After a week we are moving to the TT Orlando then checking out Sea World, and Lego Land. What is the recommendation? I see they can just send the bill plus the 2.50 admin fees but this would not get the savings is my assumption.

Now, I am checking the map of tolls and if it read it correctly we do not get any tolls. Does that seem correct to you all who are there all the time? Thanks.

Toll roads in the Orlando area are SR528 from the beach to Orlando, the 408 and 417 loop roads around Orlando and the turnpike from south Florida through Orlando to just south of Ocala. If you avoid those roads, there are no tolls. Coming from the north on I95, take the I4 exit to Orlando and be toll free.

We have the sun pass on our vehicle because we go to Florida every year. Any money not used sits on it till next year and we don't worry about ending up on an unmanned toll booth with no change. The SunPass site FAQ states
5. Can I pull a boat/trailer?
A: When towing, you can use the SunPass lanes. The toll for additional axle(s) will be calculated and deducted from your account balance during subsequent use.https://www.sunpass.com/faq

I've done most of that except I have never been to Legoland. We have stayed at TTO a few times and have gone from there to SeaWorld a ton as well as Disney a ton. We've only been to Universal a couple of times.

That said, if you're driving from TTO to Disney, there is a back way that avoids a lot of 192 and stop and go traffic.

We went with Sun Pass. Just because we could drive thru and not be bothered with toll stops. If you have the pass you just, keep driving along the road...the toll roads have overhead toll monitors. If you have to pay toll, then you pull over into the pay toll lanes.

On our trip to Florida in Spring of 2015 we purchased a Sunpass window sticker at the Welcome center for about $5 from a vending machine. You then call and register your pass and apply it to your windshield and you are good to go.

I work for the FDOT and have had to replace the windshield in my work van....so have removed the decal and placed on the new one. So my Best answer would to check it out at a windshield shop.....Good Luck

You pay something like $4.95 for the sticker and get $.95 in tolls...so basically it's free anyway. when you move it you keep the same account.

I get a nice little thank you note with a picture of the back of my TT and plate every time I go to Florida.
I then go online and pay my bill.

6 months since my trips through the 'toll-by-plate' gates and still no 'pay-up' letters... I guess they can't get addresses for Canadian plates Did use the manned booths in the northern half of the state.

Or they can't read your plate. Took only 4 weeks (Aug. 2) to bill me.

We will be in FL toll country this winter. My truck only has a plate on the front. Is that a deal breaker?

The front and back of the truck are recorded on video. When they look for the rear tag in real time an don't see a tag they roll back the tape to the front. If they don't see a front tag they call ahead and look for you. FL law requires you to display a rear tag.

Well, both my plates are clearly visible and registered at my current address with the MTO for a long time... all I know is: no bill.

And there are no cash booths on the turnpike near Miami - just toll-by-plate lanes.

Will Sunpass work on a Class C? I have an ezpass for mine but found out that the overhead on the coach was blocking the signal to the ezpass antenna. They're sending me one to mount on the front bumper....even though I told them that it was a motorhome with front overhead when I got it.

Just to address a lot of the discussion items I've seen above all at one time:

1. First, you need to understand that I-95 and I-4 are not toll roads, so the SunPass won't help you there. In fact, with the traffic and idiots driving those roads, I doubt anything short of a rocket launcher would help you. Good luck!

2. Yes - get the SunPass! The cost of it is nothing compared to the hassles, etc. without it. Getting around Orlando and the rest of the state easily requires using at least SR417, SR528 and the Florida Turnpike, all of which recognize the SunPass. If you don't have it, you best carry a LOT of quarters with you as several of the exits are unmanned and require exact change or a SunPass.

3. If you're towing a trailer, be sure to register the trailer's license plates with your SunPass account. Otherwise, they won't link the two together and you'll get a NastyGram telling you owe the tolls plus a penalty and/or fine. Not good.

4. Though I've never personally tried to reuse the sticker after peeling it off the windshield, they tell you it won't work. I do know the ones I peeled off fell apart during removal. If you take the old sticker in, they'll give you a new one to replace it at no charge, though you do have to do that at a service point for EPass or SunPass.

5. SunPass and Epass are not the same, but they are linked, so you can use either one at either toll road. Weird, I know, but most of the roads around Orlando will read Epass as you drive down the road and SunPass as you exit the road. Makes no sense, but that's how they do it.

6. When you put funds on the account, consider where you're planning to travel. I believe the turnpike from Orlando to Miami is about $12 each way, depending on your exits. To drive from NE Orlando to Disney is about $5 each way. That said, it is STILL well worth the expense to be able to stay off I-4! If you go to LegoLand from Disney, though, you will have to be on I-4, but not the super bad part of it.

Have fun, but get the pass. It also helps to keep you from being rear ended by someone at the toll booths!
