Thanks for all the great info! How do you go about reserving a golf cart (if there are any left!)? When I went to the mobile site to reserve I never saw any option to reserve a golf cart.

You have to call them.
Ask for Fort Wilderness during normal business hours and they will transfer you to them.

This may be an unpopular question, but are there any adult only loops or areas? We love kids, raised 4 between us and 6 grandkids ranging from 9-20, but sometimes when they aren't with us we prefer not to be surrounded by other peoples' kids.

Well..... The most expensive spots have the least amount of children!

We stayed in premium preferred Loop 700, 2 spots down were 2 kids, the rest was us... semi-retired, dual income, money to burn people!!!
Families on budgets and such get the cheaper spots!

We went over to the pool and stayed for about as long as it took to turn the golf cart around... they have a so-called adult pool(over 18) so few of those but no real little scremin ones!!

Don't get me wrong I have grand children love them to death... BUT it was an adult trip no KIDS!! Don't Judge Us!!!!

Call Kenny at Tee Time Golf Carts in Orlando (or maybe Clermont) - (407) 516-4571. You'll save about 1/2 of what Disney charges at the cost of 1 hour of time at each end of your trip.

Are they allowing that? Seems like I read somewhere that Disney stopped that?

They do allow it BUT the rental company isn't allowed to deliver on site nor can they have you drop off the cart at someone else's site.

But if you go off property to pickup the cart, you can still use a 3rd party rental. They've got all of the details figured out. Takes about an hour for the pickup and drop off round trips but it's worth it if you're staying for a week or longer.

Been to FW many times. I can remember long ago when we would go and rent a cabin. We are actually going to be there this Friday. Can't wait. We really like it there.

I know this may sound like blasphemy, considering we own a Coachmen trailer, but we still rent their wilderness homes and leave the trailer at home.....

There is a smaller pool over by the cabins that is not usually as crowded that we always went to. We do have kids (girls), but they're a little more well behaved than most at the big pool. They even preferred the smaller one to not have to deal with some of the other kids. I didn't know of an adult only pool while we were there.

It's been A WHILE but we went to Fort Summit KOA and DROVE to Disney. Must less expensive, at the time, and we did not have to kennel our dog.

We leave our dogs in the camper with the AC running. We come back mid day to let them out, have lunch and just take a break from the morning Disney mayhem.

Can anyone tell me why, other than if you have small children, a site that backs onto a canal is not preferable? I've never been to FW and a canal sounds kind of nice but I've read many people are negative about it...just not why they feel that way. Thanks for any help

Are you aware of the alligator attack last year? I'm sure that has caused some concern.

We live in Tampa, been camping at Disney for 30 years and stay at Fort Wilderness at least 4 times year. Frequently our site backs up to a canal and sometimes the lake. Many of the walking trails for dogs are along the canals. I have never seen a gator. However, I have never let our dogs walk along the edge of the canals due to gators and snakes. All the area around the canals are kept groomed by Disney. In July we saw a baby gator crossing a campground road, told Disney and they immediately set out to find mommy and the baby to remove them. Enjoy. The child who was killed by the gator was in the water in a none swimming area because the parents didn't realize the danger. Sad loss for them.
