The only way around is I-285 which can add an hour to your travels. I usually try to go through Atlanta on I-75 pulling my TT in the afternoon or evening, there is also the HOV lanes if you have 2 or more in the vehicle.

I have passed thru Atlanta numerous times over the years towing. Time it where you hit Atlanta about 10:00 AM and 90% of the time you will be fine. Don't take the bypass as most of the people on that have no clue where they are going.

Just remember, I-75 bears off to the right after you go thru downtown. If you miss the turn off you will be on 85. Don't ask me how I know

I don't know where you will be in Florida but we usually stay either at the KOA in Forsythe or Lake Tobesoffkee Recreation Area Cladsotone Park(exit 5 on 475) near Macon which is $25 a night for full hook up on a cement pad with a beautiful view of the lake. This allows us to time Atlanta to our advantage.

The best bet I know to drive thru Atlanta is to stay in the HOV lanes, whether going north to south or south to north. As long as you have two occupants in the vehicle you're good to go. Stay in the HOV lane, avoid any "left hand" exits and it's a breeze. Of course the time of day plays an important part in how long it will take to get thru Atlanta and making sure you are fueled up before hitting Atlanta you won't have to worry about any exit/entry ramp traffic.

Only problem with that is if you have any trouble with your unit now you got to figure how to cross 8 lanes to get to a safe spot. Later RJD

grow right thru downtown directly on I75 in the HOV lane the whole way.... no better way to get 'thru' ATL than to simply go 'THRU' Atlanta!

and at lunchtime

or on Sats or Sundays

I went down to Florida and back earlier this year. Totally avoided Atlanta. Route was easily followed and VERY relaxed. I did it on weekdays and in many sections had hundreds of yards of road to myself. This link is to a post on the route I took. On this route you will be "in cities" for all of about 15 minutes. Most of the time we were on divided 4 lane roads at 55-65 mph. This WILL be my route NB and SB around Atlanta for any future trip unless I really want to get close to Atlanta.

X2, I have pulled a travel trailer and 5th wheel thru Atlanta at least a dozen times. Plan your arrival between 10am and 2pm and you will be fine unless someone does something stupid and that can happen anywhere on the interstate system. I also use HOV lane. Just pay attention in HOV lane and watch for the I-75 N exit to the left. It will hook you up with I-75N after the I-75/85 interchange. The bypass is more harrowing then just going thru Atlanta plus that is where all the 18 wheelers are.

yes, and that is the ONLY requirement, though many think that it's only for 'locals' or small vehicles.... bunk! Use it!

Avoid rush hour, get in the right lane and go right down the middle. The bypass is just as bad and add 1 hour to your travels.
