Traveling from northern NH TO Edmonton, canada

We plan to leave Northern NH around June 2 to head to Edmonton then head to the Alcan with final destination Anchorage. In searching various forums and travel planning sites we have suggestions of routes above the Great Lakes in Canada or below the Lakes in the US. Any suggestions, positive or negative on either route would be appreciated. We do not have any strict time parameters, ease of driving and good roads are considerations.

While I've never made that trip, I would prefer the scenery of Canada but rather like the US gas prices!

I have traveled both sides. The Us side is flatter with strait roads. The Canadian side has more scenery but has a lot of hills and many curves. The Northern Canadian route is flatter but has no scenery. You will not have a problem finding CG opened in June.
