Traverse City, MI campgrounds

We're looking for something for a week this summer that offers a rustic-style (wooded, old growth trees, etc) with full hookups. Platte River would be great but I can't see having my whole family using the camper without sewer and water hookups. I'll be headed to the dump station daily.

Right now I'm looking at Holiday Park Campground but I'm wondering if anyone has had any good experiences with campgrounds in the area before we book.

Any recommendations?

We stay here quite a bit. Timber Ridge I realize that every campground can't be to everyones tastes, but our family likes it there.

Sorry for the delayed reply, but I just saw this...
Holiday Park is one of our absolute favorite parks! Private beach on the south side of Silver Lake, great proximity to everything TC has to offer, good size sites, full hookup everywhere.

We prefer the lake view sites, or at least the wooded sites in the "old" circle areas. The new area is more like traditional campgrounds and pretty bare from trees compared to the old section. Quiet campground...not full of activities like the Jellystone variety (in fact, that's one of the reason's we like it so well...not noisy). Our kids are all grown now. There are a few small playground areas for kiddos...good when we take some of our grandkids.

We're actually going there this weekend for an extended Memorial Day. We also have a big weekend planned there in June with several of my wife's family on a couple sites together. We'll be up there on Labor Day weekend, and we always try to catch the 2nd weekend on Oct. for a TC color tour.

We're from the Lansing area...we like it so much we don't mind the drive.

I've uploaded a few pics below from some of our trips.

Let us know if you go up and we can meet.

My wife and I and another couple went with us for a weeks stay at Holiday CG and absolutely loved it. My wife and I have been traveling for 12 years and as far as I'm concerned, this is my favorite campground ever. I lover the feel and the wood chipped sites. The site are large and (where we parked) wooded.
We are from Fort Wayne, IN, so the drive was about 5 hours. We will go back again just because I loved this CG soo much.
