We have stayed at River Plantation and at Pine Mountain. Both nice campgrounds.

We've stayed here several times. Sites are gravel with concrete patio pad. Most back up to the creek that runs both sides. Lots of mature trees. There is no bath house or other amenities. Full hook ups and cable tv. Verizon cell signal is very strong. Location is close to the parkway and very quiet. Pm me if you have any other questions.

I just stayed at pine mountain from sat to wed. Very nice, quiet, and off the strip. Only 2 other rvs each day. We used the indoor pool across the street. Wife loved the location.

We MUCH more prefer to camp in Townsend ("The Quiet Side Of The Smokies" )

In fact we prefer this particular CG:
Big Meadow Family Campground | Smoky Mountain Camping in Townsend, TN

But thee are others in Townsend as well.

The other plus of Townsend is you are at the right entrance to SMNP to zip over in the morning/evening to catch the wildlife viewing BEFORE the endless parade of vehicles start

We stayed there two summers ago. It's a nice campground but we used it for a base and did a lot of day trips so we weren't there all that much. Enough to sleep and eat breakfast. A bit pricey but we usually stay at state parks which are more roomy and more economical. It is close to a lot of things in what I call tourist traps.

X2 for Townsend. We can get to Townsend and be set up in about an hour from the house. Big Meadow is our go to campground when not going out of town.

Pine Mountain RV Park by the Creek
This is our favorite place and we have stayed at quite a few of them

I don't know what park WUMBA is talking about because Pine Mountain has a great bath house with individual shower rooms.
