Vacation time is fast approaching

I need a little advice from the experts: We will be leaving from Smyrna, TN heading to Tybee Island, GA. I have been this route a few times in our automobile which is a little different than towing a 27ft trailer. Atlanta is an obstacle but I guess I am going around 285 W to get back to I-75 South to Macon. My main concern now is towing through Savannah, GA. The directions tell me to go downtown to Bay Street and follow it on out until I get to East President Street, then left to 80, then on to Tybee Island. I was just wondering if anyone knows a better route to tow through Savannah? I have been looking at Googlemaps and trying to decide. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I don't know about the route but I was there about 8 years ago and there was a fabulous open air seafood place out on the island.

Also Paula Dean's restaurant is in Savannah. Have fun!

That would probably be the Crab Shack, on the right before you get out to Tybee. We have eaten at Paula Deen's before...good food. Also her brother has a place on the right going out 80, Uncle Bubba's, a good place also.

We will be in Hilton head the first week of September. Probably head to Savannah for a day.

Well, I made it from Smyrna, TN to Tybee Island, GA. No problem going over Monteagle Mountain on I-24, through Chattanooga to I-75, then through Atlanta on 285. We stayed over at the KOA in Forsyth, GA to over to Tybee today. I followed I-16 from Macon, GA to Savannah. I got off on Martin Luther King, took a left, down to Bay Street, then a right onto Bay Street, I stayed in the left lane all the way to President, then to 80 out to Tybee. Got directions from the campground. It was easy...they are doing construction on Bay Street in the right lane through town. They were even working on Sunday. Just thought I would do a follow up post. Oh, I-16 is like riding a bronc....
