Want to see Dolly Parton in Pigeon Forge TN
With our September trip back east we now have plans to stop in at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge TN.
I looked and they have lots of campgrounds around town and in the woods.
We will stay 2 nights and would like full hookups.
Price isn't an issue but like to know which in town are nice and worth the visit.
Have you been at any of the campgrounds in town?
Were you happy on the nice sites and campgrounds?
What else did you do or visit in the area?
Thanks

Can she sing as good as Dolly Parton?
Joking aside, I am interested in the responses, as that's also a trip I would like to make.
EDIT: I did correct her name spelling in the title for you.

River Plantation
We stayed at River Plantation and will go back this year. It is in Sevierville, but you turn left out of campground and you are literally in Pigeon Forge. Which is nice because you are not dragging your camper through some of the traffic mess. Full Hookups are around $46/night. The sites are nice and level, fairly spacious, and just about all of them have a concrete patio. The staff is friendly and the place is clean and well kept. Bathhouses are nice if you need to use those. The Campground is on the River as well.
Also, they are opening a sister campground in the spring 2019 called The Ridge that looks like it might be really nice. I am anxious to check it out as well. I am not sure of the location of The Ridge.
But I highly recommend River Plantation.

Gee. I saw your statement above “Price isn’t an issue...”
Iggy, I’ve always said, if I had your money I’d burn mine.
Guess it’s truer than ever now.
We’ve been to Pigeon Forge so long ago I can’t offer any campground suggestions that would help, so I’ll just watch. However, I’d still suggest you check out Gatlinburg while you’re in the area.....nice day trip.

We've stayed at a couple places in Pigeon Forge the last couple years with our new favorite being Mill Creek Resort. Just a block or so off the main drag but far enough from the hustle & bustle of the traffic so it isn't an issue and still close enough to everything. Nice place. They do have some shorter sites so look at their map and decide for yourself.
They also bought a neighboring campground that also looks very promising when completed. They were working on renovating it last fall when we were there.
It's on the south end of the main drag so good access to Dollywood and the Gatlinburg areas.
A trolley will pick you up right in the campground to take you wherever (may have to switch at the station depending on destination) Use it to go to Dollywood. It costs like 50˘ and they will drop you right off at the ticket booth. Don't pay $14 to park your car and still need to ride Dollywood's tram to get into the park. This is much better.
Also, drive to the Visitor's Center between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, park there (for Free) and take the trolley to Gatlinburg. (again for 50˘)
Mill Creek Resort

There are a lot to choose from and a lot of them you travel though town to get to. River Plantation looks good price is right. We usually stay at Rippling waters CG not real fancy but prices are good and have a pool and you can get spots that back up to Pigeon river if you like to fish. Like River plantation its close and few miles apart.
Camperwest413 how did you avoid not traveling into town getting to the CG. Later RJD

Thanks Wes and All
We looked at them all and decide on your suggestion the River Plantation for 2 nights.
The days we are there is a classic car show so it will be busy and I like the location north of town.
Thanks everyone.
