Ditto on Kerr Lake Recreation Area. There are several campgrounds on this huge lake. Most are in North Carolina with some in Virginia. I can only recommend where we camped and that is at J.C. Cooper campground in N.C. You can fish, boat and swim off of your campsite. Many of the waterfront sites have water and electric. Best sunsets ever and rates as one of the top 5 of our favorite sites . Not much to do other than to enjoy the outdoors.

Venture farther to where your $1 is worth almost $1.40. Marten River Provincial Park is spectacular. Hydro only at sites but water and dump station in park. Beautifully maintained shower houses with laundry available. Many sites right in the water. Great fishing and an all purpose supply store (groceries/liquor/fishing supplies/souvenirs/food truck/fuel and much more) within a short walking distance.

The only one we've stayed at that you could do that is Holiday Harbour http://www.killamleisureliving.com/holidayharbour/

It's in Wheatley, Ontario and the sites are right on Lake Erie. Not a big place, but all the transients are on the lake so you're guaranteed a beachfront site.

How about Point Lookout State Park in MD? It has 6 different campgrounds and two of them - Green's Point and Hoffman's Loop are directly on the water (lake). If you leave the campground and go towards the end of the point, you are on the Chesapeake Bay. They have a great pier on the Bay and also have a marina on the lake. It is beautiful, but buggy during the summer months.

I just looked at your profile and see you're in Bethlehem. I live in Quakertown. We're practically neighbors.

Bayshore Family Campground, Andover, OH. One of the nicest campgrounds we've ever stayed in, and Pymatuning is a great kayaking lake.

You can also check out Sara's on Presque Isle. It may not be exactly what you want, but it's close.

You can boondock right on the water at AEP Lands in Southeast Ohio for free. Just need to download a permit.

I agree with asquared. Kerr Lake (Buggs Island) is the place. So many lake front sites at state owned camp grounds. Site 63 at Bullocksville is our absolute favorite. My wife would live there in the summer if she could. We pull the paddleboat right to the campsite. As I sit here looking at the 11 inches of snow we just got how I long for the spring to get here. We will be on 63 when the DW gets her spring break from school. Oh my.

Lake Raystown Resort in PA... Pull boat right up to site, take a paddle boat dinner cruise or even rent a house boat
