Watkins Glen, NY

We are headed to Watkins Glen this weekend. Spending the weekend at the KOA. Anyone else in town this weekend?

Nice campground. Be sure to bring your bathing suit.

Grew up there (living in Texas now). Make sue you head to Seneca Lodge for dinner at least one night and be sure to stop in the barroom and check all the stuff on the walls and ceilings. Lots of raving history on those walls.

Oh and see if you can get Jack ( the guy with the handlebar mustache) to play the nickelodeon for you.

Enjoy!

We were just up the road from you at Sampson State Park. Drove down to the Watkins Glen area and did the state park and down town for the day. Managed to wipe the dogs out. We all got a good night sleep that night.

We are too going to Watkins Glen KOA but not until the 06th of September. Will check these places.
Looks like we picked the Grand-Prix weekend to go (not planned but should be fun)

You'll be there for Vintage Race Weekend, lots of fun stuff to do in town, great cars and of course the track.

Enjoy.

Coderider -

We tried to have dinner at the Seneca Lodge last evening but it was two hour wait. Enjoyed a great weekend and the cool air in the evening has me looking forward to fall.

This was to be the largest waterfall East of the Mississippi - but not this trip. An employee of the state park said this was the 3rd time 100 years that it went dry. Not sure if he was telling the truth or not...

Sorry to hear about that, not sure what was going on this weekend. I do know on a race weekend if you want to eat at a reasonable hour your need to be there when they start seating and, sadly, they don't do reservations as I recall.
