I just stand on my truck's running boards and I can reach.

Another trick I've read is go inside first and get the telephone number for the weight desk. When you get onto the scale, call them instead of using the button.

Not only is the Push to Talk (PTT) waaay up there it can be waaay out there as well. When I pull on my local CAT scale I only do a front / rear axle / combined weight. That means I have to park in the center section of the scale to split the rig between the two main scale sections. Now the PTT button a good ten feet in front of my front bumper... I tell them what I want then hop back on the front scale section to include my not so insignificant weight...

We have several landscaping places in our area that sell mulch/stone/top soil/house coal by the ton.
They are more than happy to weight your rig if they are not backed up with customers.

CAT has an app for weighing.
Pull on scale, app talks to the scale hardware, once weighed, the weights are shown in the app and emailed to you.
You pay through PayPal so you don't even need to go inside unless you want a paper copy.

I weighed my new RV today. 8900 pound exactly including my fat carcass, the trim wife and dog, full FW tank. Cost was $10.

I noticed a moving company had a road sign offering to weigh trucks up to 74 feet in length.
FIRPO movers in Aston, PA.

I didn't have to deal with truckers or driving over to NJ. the whole process took about 10 minutes. the scales are certified by Pennsylvania and they give you a signed weigh slip.
