Let us know how it is to camp there. Sometimes we try to stay close to home so we don't miss too much church.

We will be heading to our daughter's in Chattanooga for the weekend, but the TT will stay home. Too quick a trip to take it up there and we stay at their house anyway. Might go to the National Cemetery there just to pay our respects this Memorial Day weekend. Looking forward to our next weekend out in a few weeks. We have some things to get ready for vacation next month.

I'm staying home. Some working stiff can have the site I would take. Being retired I can go anytime and I won't have to deal with the weekend warriors..

Crystal Cove Campground in California

We are here for a week over the Memorial Day weekend, at the newest State Park in California. Located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean near Laguna Beach with an easy walk to the sand.

You know what is nice? We have a alarm system with closed circuit cameras inside and out. Also the availability of a relative that can stay at the house house sitting with a license to carry. Proficiency with certain weapons is evident by the documentation of various shooting competitions inclusive of combat shooting scenarios. Like is good and secure in the hood!

Mot,
I grew up near Kerr Lake, the Va side and Virginians call it Buggs Island Lake. We camp there as often as possible, there are loads of the best Army Corp of Engineer parks. (We prefer ACE, Federal and State parks). Clean, good space, and most lots are either Lake front or view on a great huge lake that has very little development. Very different from Lake Gaston that is very residentially developed with a few private/commercial campgrounds.
We typically camp at North Bend Park and bring the boat, though there are several ACE camps to choose from on both Va and NC sides. We especially love some of the lake front dry camping areas, though they have hundreds with water and elec, as they tend to be the best views and a bit fewer campers.
You can book online at recreation.gov and even find pics of the sites at Campsite Photos.
Hope you can get there soon. Enjoy!

Kerr lake was gorgeous and peaceful, even on a holiday weekend. Our biggest issue was maneuvering a 40' fiver that is 13'6" tall. The roads are tight and we barely got around, we also scraped a few branches. The site was worth it though. You can see my pics in the 2015 campsites thread
