We'll be heading Thursday after work to Blue Knob State Park in PA.

Come home on Memorial Day in time to grill some steaks and maybe have the In-Laws over for dinner.

To me camping on any of the big 3 summer holidays is like going out to a club for New Years Eve, not gonna happen.

Nor do we, but this coming weekend we'll be back at a park we visited for the first time a month ago: Poverty Point Reservoir State Park.

We were fortunate to get the same site we got last time, which we picked after DH scouted the park when we played Black Bear Golf course the weekend before.

The site is in a cul de sac of sorts...NO neighbor on one side (just an open grassy field) and a distant neighbor on the other side.

It's gonna be a lazy 4 day weekend for us...well me, actually since DH is going to play golf at least one day, probably 2 days.

It's a virtually new park, and it's lovely! There's even a splash pad/water park for young'uns and lots of hiking trails.

Can't wait...got a bad case of hitch itch!

I'm going to let the families enjoy Memorial Day weekend. I like camping around families with kids. I enjoy watching them enjoy themselves, but since my retired I'm going out for a few day the following week to Stephen F. Austin State Park in San Felipe, Texas. Its only 15 miles from home.

We thought about it, but after packing up wet this morning, and coming home to dump a bunch of wet stuff in the garage, I'm just going to stay home and clean up the garage. We need to get my son ready to ship off to scout camp in a week anyhow.

wife and I have generous vacation time through our employers. as stated above, holiday weekends are no fun to be out in for us either. besides, its supposed to rain here beginning wed and through at least Saturday (according to our esteemed weatherman).

Looks like Salt Springs in the Ocala forest for us! Holiday camping is "different" ....lol......but it's always good to be away, snorkel, cycle, walk the trails, and people watch!
