Who is still camping?
Ok. I am puzzled. I was traveling again this weekend. I stopped at one of my favorite truck stops along the route. It was 9 degrees F. In the parking lot was a large DP, a regular class A and A class B. They appeared to be settled in for the night. DP even had all slides out. What was puzzling is I did not hear any generators running. Can one run catalytic or electric heaters on an inverter for any length of time? Forgive my incessant questioning, but I am struggling to understand how to keep warm without running the generator and furnace all night long.

Don't need a generator to run furnace, it runs on battery and propane. I just finished a week near Branson MO and used the heater without generator. Do have solar to recharge batteries during the day. Only have 2 6v Interstate and had no problem. During the day the solar ran the furnace.

I have a standalone indoor safe propane heater that doesn't need a power source. I'll grab that if I do any cold weather boondocking.

Yep.
I bought an adapter hose to run it off a standard propane tank for extended use.

If not, we'll probably try to do something in March.

were you that vengeance that had more christmas blow up decorations then most houses do? lol We were down at one of the resorts and toured the CG for a possible stay this summer, and saw a few all decorated up.

I currently am 1/2 timing in my "new to us" '14 340RK in the SE corner of Arizona. I use the 5'r for a place to call home while at work and go home on the weekends. Night time temps have been between 26 and 52 degrees so far this winter. The 340Rk has a great furnace and I am very comfortable, even in the coldest of nights down here. The altitude of my campground is right around 4600, so we do get some very cold temps when the sun goes down. The campground is also full of "snowbirds" as we Arizonians call them. They will be with us until the March April timeframe and then pull out to go home.

Being from WNY State I can only dream of all of you folks down south still being able to camp. Drove to Atlanta in our SUV for Christmas then up to Nashville afterwards and the DW's and my mouths were drooling with all the campers of all sizes, along with boats and kayaks and motorcycles etc..we saw on the interstates. Love camping when its colder out like the high 20's to low 50's which usually can be the case in our neck of the woods up until early/mid November, bye bye rig until April there after.

Exactly, although to camp all year, I would likely have to go back to work, as much as I like to camp. ?? Naaaah. Too high a price!! 😀😀😀😀😎

January 24th will mark the exact 1/2 point between when my last RV trip ended and my next one begins.

I 'camp' in my unit all winter. It's stored in my barn, shore powered but makes a nice get away to relax in.

We just got back from Quartzsite, and next month will be doing 3 days in Florence. It is AZ so days are nice, but nights get really chilly. Fleece pjs help, and we love our heater Buddy.
