Yea Im from iowa. They try to act tough but i have never had anyone say anything about my bottle of jack daniels. I really don't think they will ever get campfires ban in the state parks. They know they will lose to much revenue.

State parks in Ohio are dry (no alcohol allowed at a)! A number of years ago we were being quite loud sitting around our roaring campfire with a full cooler of beer next to the fire, bottle of whiskey on the picnic table in plane sight and all the Ranger mentioned to us was to quiet down. They usually do not enforce the alcohol ban unless you are "out of control".

I hope we never see a fire ban in Ohio, that would be BAD.

So far we have only camped at two campgrounds with a fire ban, one being in the Grand Tetons out west (I can understand that one) and the other being Fort Wilderness at Disney. Of course at both places we were so busy sight seeing we never had time for a fire.

Here on Long Island all the county park CG's are dry. They usually dont enforce it unless your getting loud and unruly we just keep it out of sight. I have yet to come across a CG that does not allow "contained" campfires. Like many others who have posted the campfire is one of the best things I look forward to. In fact I bought my cord of campfire wood back in October and it's been stacked sitting in the yard seasoning for this upcoming camp season. You can never bring too much firewood camping.

At all of the Ontario Provincial Parks campfires are permitted
But the Holiday weekends have bans on alcohol; which to me means that if you are quietly sipping a 'beverage' by the campfire you are ok, but any brazenly obvious use is grounds for expulsion from the CG.

I was looking for state parks around our area and I found one in northern Illinois that is "dry." No wonder they had a ton of electric sites available for every weekend of the summer - even holiday weekends. I'm thinking they must have had some major problems at this park with kids/underage drinking. As far as I can tell, it's the only one in our area that is "dry."

Trudinator,

What state park in IL is dry? I'm really surprised to hear that.
