1 1/4 to 2 inch receiver mod/replace

new to the Forrest river forum and have a question the unit I just purchased came from the factory with a small 1 1/4 " hitch which will not accept my bike rack besides being very wobbly/flexing. i want the dealer to add a 2" adapter and possibly beef up the cross member to which they replied that would void the warranty. so in order to not void the warranty can they just replace the whole hitch system with a 2" system? they were going o check so just wanted to see if anyone may have had a similar issue and trade out.

It would help if you posted what unit you purchased.

If you are just using it for bikes I would get an adapter and a hitch anti rattle device. The anti rattle will clamp around the receiver and prevent it from moving.

I have this adapter and there is so much slop in the two receiver sizes the bike rack wobbles all over the place. This setup might be useful if you can find a way to minimize or eliminate the slop in the receiver fits. DW says never again, haul the bikes inside between the slides.

If it is just used for the bikes and you have the right tools and all, you could drill and tap a 5/16 or 3/8" hole for a pinch bolt that should take about all the play out.

Replace the hitch pins with 5/8 inch bolts, nuts, washers. Tractor Supply is a good source. Makes it rock solid.

I carry a 300# motorcycle on the back of my camper with a 2" hitch of my own design.

Here are a couple of anti rattle devices.

I have a 1 1/4 to 2 inch adapter for my bikes. I have two clamps that lock the rack into place.
