The payload on my Ram is even lower than yours =[

It is what it is......and I am not about to replace it (unless we win the lottery); when we tow, we are at the max payload.
Therefore, my DD is only allowed one paperback book to bring along for the trip, no hardcovers.

Right, now, still working on loading appropriately for my situation ( a little unorthodox I guess, but I have loaded everything onthe axles). That took 20 lbs off my truck, but I am still 80 lbs over the GVWR (6780) so I will be loading everything in the bathroom which is large and is in the back of the tt. Still lots of tw to do so.) as the fuel tank goes down, it makes the truck lighter lol

My truck's payload right now without even counting the hard mopar tonneau cover and the sidesteps (tubular) is 1260 (ish) lbs (on the yellow sticker)

I was thinking of calling the rv dealer today see if i could exchange for the small jayco with no slide
But if I know it will be safe to tow, then I will stop worrying about it.
Safety for me and others on the road is number 1
If it's about the truck's earlier wear and tear, I can deal with this (trade it in earlier lol)

Sorry Bou, but you can't trick me!

Certified REAL engineers have already figured out what is "acceptable" and where to draw the line... The published GVWR.

NO ONE can say when that paperclip will break. It could have a pre-existing metal fatigue, inter-granular corrosion, or fracture built in when the frame was made. Flexing that part beyond it's design could result in a non-typical failure.

A single event over the design rating could fail the part. You won't find a pilot around who will get into an "over G'ed" aircraft without a full NDI of the wing spar and engine mounts.

And still parts come off, like at the Reno Air Races, even then...

What is your payload?
All these numbers can get so confusing! I figured the TT was 5747 lbs loaded which the ram can pull no problem, priblem is the TW of 750 lbs (dry- so probably around 850 lbs ) adding to the payload and driving my GVWR up to 6780
No room for a paperback book inmy truck!

Have the DD pack less clothing.
My wife packs as if she's going out on an Artic Expedition in the evening and a Texas heat wave at daybreak. The rest of the day is somewhat like an east coast Canada summer fall.

However you must have weighed with the WD bars installed. You have more weight on your front axles than the rear. This is too much WD and with your distribution you will be very susecptable to sway.

Take the bars OFF when you weigh next time.
The Tongue weight should be closer to 15% than 10.
