looking into the injector issues . i need to find when he replaced his at what mileage. i do know he has this extra full filter and water separator system that was added on . don't know if that helps i'm sure it does . i need to decide if it's worth the extra maintenance and possible costs of repairs over my 6.0 which i know a can replace engine and tranny for almost as much as just an injector replacement

I would say you have solved one of the major issues associated with searching for a used diesel. Finding one that was not owned by a teenager and blowing black smoke! I looked forever to find one that didn't even have a tuner. Finally found one after over a year of looking.

I bout my '02 2500HD (EC long bed) back in 2011 and paid $14k for it. It had 89k miles and was used to haul a slide in camper and later a fifth wheel. It has been a great truck so far. I don't often check mileage empty (It gets what it gets) but I believe the last time I checked it I got 18. Towing my fifth wheel (42', 13,500 lbs) I get 12 average. It did drop down to 10 when we went to the mountains a few weeks ago.

By now, the early trucks had the injectors replaced. At this point, I'm sure his truck is a strong runner, especially with the mods done to it. It sounds like he took great care of it and if he has the maintenance records on it, $10K is a bargain.
