Can i ask what the price he's asking is?

asking $21,500 nego, I have talked with him the title is clear, He is picking up his newer truck today. He is not in a bind to sell it. I was thinking to offer 17,500, he will probably settle for 20,000 which in in the ball park according to NADA, but in this area diesels tend to have their own market. I was looking at the aspect of not having payments."IF" the engine is good with no problems its got many years left. Normal wear items ie; suspension etc are not an issue. Once again I waffle on what to do, maybe I need to get into politics.(HA HA ). Its only money.

Nobody is going to say anything about you liking Ford, but the 6.0 series is just such a crap shoot.

If you are waffling back and forth, err on the side of caution and pass on it. It doesn't sound like you are 100% certain this is " the truck". Tons of them are out there, and you will find the one that you know is right. Save your cash until that time.

2004 F250 6.0 diesel concerns

Spoke too soon. Got towed from Medicine Bow curve up on Trail Ridge RD. to Ft. Collins on Friday with a suspected blown oil cooler. $425 for the tow. Dealer started the work today...getting new oil cooler, EGR cooler, multiple coolant flushes, new coolant bottle, thermostat, hoses and a bunch of misc. Grand total $3600 not including the rental and extra days of vacation. Was supposed to return to work tomorrow. I wonder how that would've played for the credit lovers?? Me, I'm still enjoying myself.

I would walk away for that price, should be more like 12-15 max. a great condition low mile duramax in 06-07 can go for 20, and will not need anything to make it last to 200k except the usual maint items that all diesels need. For 21k you might need to replace the EGR sys with aftermarket and stud the heads. But they are great motors when the proper stuff is done to them. I have buddy`s with all years of the 6.0 some have terrible issues and some run like a clock with nothing ever wrong

Definitely walk away for that price. I got mine for $10K. Lariat 2wd, 150K miles. Very clean all around. I put the monitor gauges on and saw the deltas were high. Budgeted the extra $1800 for a new oil cooler and EGR delete. I installed a coolant filter after doing a restore and restore plus flush. Not planning on tuning, so I should be fine on the stock head bolts, but I do have $5K set aside if I have to get the ARP head studs.

The head gaskets are next, trust me. They go slowly at first, then WHAM!

I have a F250/6.0. I bought it 5 years ago for $15,000.00 got a great deal also got a great truck. Not all 6.0 had problems, just like not all FR products have problems. I was offered the same I paid for it last week. My wife said no. Have not had any problems, knock on wood. I do the maintenance by the book. Just replaced my shocks, but I also have 124,000 miles on it. The truck will pull a house. I don't care what anyone say's all them have problems. I don't put tuners on I was warned on that by a Ford dealer Mech. He said that's when you start the problems. I 'm looking at the new 6.7 so far so good is what I hear but not for 54,000.00. I could do a lot of repair for that kinda of money. Now lets hope I didn't JINX MYSELF.
