2007 f250 6.0 ps?

Hey guys, was wondering if I could get some feedback on this truck. I am looking at buying a 2007 F250 6.0 Powerstroke Ford to pull my Grey Wolf camper. I know in the past the 6.0 had mucho problems, but by 2007 they should have worked out all the bugs??? Thanks in advance for any feedback on this.

I have always run Durmax, so I can not answer the question. You will most likely get a better and more complete response from one of the diesel forums, like this one; Diesel Forum - TheDieselStop.com there are others just google diesel forum to find them. Good Luck

Yep I understand, I have always had GM products, never owned a ford, I just have an opportunity to get an awesome price on this truck, but kinda scared of that 6.0 Pstroke!

Thanks for the link Daniel, its funny, you dont have to look very hard to find all kinds of problems and disgruntled owners of the 6.0 PS, Dodge/Cummings, or GM/Duramax !!! But you can also find owners that love the 6.0, cummins, and duramax ! This is a tough one to figure out !!!!

I worked at a auto shop and I have seen my share of 6.0 fords with head gasket and coolant leak problems. Also the oil lines to the cooler and turbo are known to develop leaks. The owners who love them have never been handed a invoice for repiars like I am talking about, they are the lucky ones. Whatever you choose I would go with a good aftermarket or exteneded warrenty, that should ease your mind! Personnaly I prefer GAS to Diesel, the cost of maintenace is high on diesels, oil changes can be expesnsive, 15 qts of diesel oil and a 15$ filter adds up fast! But if you need a Diesel then what choice do you really have. Get the one you like and hope for the best. FYI I saw less Dodge's in the shop than Fords and GM's!

Thanks again Daniel, I will look into this somemore im sure, I like the dodge also, it seems the crewcab f250 has more room in the back than the dodge crewcab, but thats not a big deal.. The only reason im looking at this f250 is the price is really sweet, and im also looking for pulling power, the mountains pulling my 28bh greywolf with a chevy tahoe is just not working out to good for me !

I recently went through a similar dilemma buying a Ford diesel. There are plenty of folks with no issues with the 6.0, and with an '07, as long as you don't chip it and take care of maintenance, I'm sure you will be fine.

My decision was to get an '08. The interior on the '08 is soooo much nicer, and the issues with the 6.4L have been minimal. The fuel mileage isn't as good with the 6.4L, but it isn't as scary as many in the forums have said. I have gotten 19 MPG on a 200 mile round trip, driving a mix of rural roads, interstate, and some city driving (I drive pretty easy on the go pedal though).

Good luck with your choice!!

Hey ford man I appreciate the feedback. I guess my thought is by 2007 they should have all the bad issues worked out on the 6.0. Im having a hard time walking away from this one because the price is really good. The truck only has 64000 on it. I also realize you can get a lemon out of any one of them! Thats just the luck of the draw sometimes. But thanks again for chiming in!!

From what I have heard, the '07's ARE pretty trouble free. If you like the truck, and it is a good deal, I say GO FOR IT!

I almost pulled the trigger on an '05, until I drove an '08...then I was sold on the new interior and quieter engine. But, it cost quite a bit for that too.
