2008 GMC/CHEVY Sierra/Silverado

Was shoveling snow last week and saw what I thought was blood in the snow under the front of the truck (I was warming it and thought I got a critter with the fan). Turns out it was tranny fluid from the transmission cooler hose leaking.

Cursing a blue streak, I made an appointment to get it fixed the following week (today).

Saturday, I got a letter in the mail notifying me of a "silent recall" of 2008 6 speed transmissions that leak at the cooler fittings in very cold weather.

Man, talk about timing!

That letter saved me $350 bucks in repairs.

Don't worry the new ones will leak also. Aftermarket is the way to go. They only seem to leak during cold weather. I put aftermarket on mine and haven't looked back. Did it myself and saved a ton.

I made my own replacements that will never leak but I'll allow gm to replace them for free first.

Don't worry too much. My 2014 Ram did it too. Seems a wide problem.
